Max Verstappen Addresses Aston Martin Rumors Amid Billion-Dollar Speculation

Max Verstappen has confirmed talks with Aston Martin, but not regarding a potential Formula 1 drive, despite recent speculation linking him to a billion-dollar move to the team.

The four-time world champion was rumoured to be in discussions with the Silverstone-based outfit, but Aston Martin swiftly denied the claims, emphasizing that Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll remain under long-term contracts.

Verstappen’s Future at Red Bull Under Scrutiny

Speculation over Verstappen’s future at Red Bull Racing first emerged in early 2024, when the Dutch driver hinted that his commitment to the team was closely tied to motorsport advisor Helmut Marko. He suggested that if Marko were to leave under unfavourable circumstances, he too might consider an exit.

Verstappen’s current contract runs until the end of the 2028 F1 season, at which point he will be 31 years old. While many drivers extend their careers well into their late 30s and 40s, such as Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen has previously stated that he has no intention of racing into his 40s.

Aston Martin Talks: Not About F1

Verstappen confirmed that discussions with Aston Martin had taken place—but not about an F1 seat.

“It is a lot of money,” Verstappen said in response to the speculation.

“Honestly, when I read that, it was the first time I saw something like that. The only contact I had with them was about GT3 for this year.

“There is not much to say really, but it is not me personally driving—I am starting my own racing team, so of course, some things need to be in place.”
