Golden State Warriors Sign Former Top-10 Pick in Expected Roster Move
Golden State Warriors Sign Kevin Knox II to 10-Day Contract After Impressive G League Stint
The Golden State Warriors have reportedly made a key roster move following the acquisition of Jimmy Butler, opting to fill one of their two open spots by signing former top-10 pick Kevin Knox II to a 10-day contract.
Warriors Bring Back Kevin Knox II After Strong G League Performance
According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors are set to bring Kevin Knox II back into the fold after his standout performances with their G League affiliate, Santa Cruz Warriors.
Knox, the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, previously played for Golden State in Summer League and participated in training camp before joining Santa Cruz. His recent surge in the G League made him an obvious candidate for an NBA return.
Kevin Knox II’s G League Success
Knox’s impressive stats in the G League regular season helped solidify his case for a return to the Warriors:
- 25.3 points per game
- 8.8 rebounds per game
- 52.7% shooting from the field
- 44.4% three-point shooting
This marked improvement from his tip-off tournament numbers (18.8 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 34% 3PT) showcases his growth and confidence on the court.
Can Knox Make an Impact in Golden State?
Despite his talent, Knox has struggled to find a long-term home in the NBA, having played 306 games for four different franchises. His best season came during his rookie year with the New York Knicks, where he averaged 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Golden State, currently sitting at 28-27, provides Knox with the most competitive environment he’s played in. His combination of size (6’7″), athleticism, and shooting ability could help address the Warriors’ depth issues and reduce reliance on three-guard lineups—something that has frustrated fans in recent years.
What’s Next for Knox and the Warriors?
While Knox’s playing time may be limited, especially with the anticipated return of Jonathan Kuminga, he will have a chance to prove himself when the Warriors face the Sacramento Kings on February 23 after the All-Star break.
If he performs well, Knox could secure a longer deal and become a valuable depth piece for the Warriors in the second half of the season.
