Max Verstappen Shuts Down £1 Billion Aston Martin Rumours As He Prepares For 2025 F1 Season

Max Verstappen has dismissed speculation surrounding a historic £1 billion offer from Aston Martin, insisting there is “nothing there” as he gears up for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Rumors of Aston Martin’s Mega-Offer

Reports from the Daily Mail suggested the three-time world champion could be tempted away from Red Bull with a record-breaking contract worth approximately $1.264 billion (€1.207bn)—a staggering deal that would make him the highest-paid driver in F1 history.

However, Verstappen was quick to shut down the speculation when questioned about the potential move.

“When I read that, it was the first time I’d seen anything like that. That’s it. There is nothing more to say, because there is really nothing there,” Verstappen stated.

Red Bull’s Christian Horner Also Dismisses Claims

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner was equally dismissive of the rumors, attributing them to the usual off-season speculation that arises in Formula 1.

“I know you guys [the media] have all got column inches to fill over a winter period,” Horner told reporters. “But a billion-pound driver? A billion dollars? It would be an eye-wateringly large amount of money.”

Horner emphasized Verstappen’s strong ties to Red Bull, where he has spent nearly a decade and won multiple world championships.

“Max is very happy in the environment that he’s in. He’s grown up in the team, has a great relationship with the engineers, technicians, and everyone he works with. It’s up to us to provide a competitive car and continue to give him the platform to achieve success.”

Aston Martin’s Ambitions and Strategic Moves

Despite Verstappen’s denial, Aston Martin has been aggressively expanding its F1 project, recently securing legendary car designer Adrian Newey on a £20 million-a-year deal. Additionally, team owner Lawrence Stroll has invested heavily in state-of-the-art facilities near Silverstone.

According to reports, Aston Martin’s commercial chief Jefferson Slack has been discussing Verstappen’s potential signing with investors, fueling further speculation.

“Jefferson has been going around saying that Max is going to be joining Aston Martin,” a source told Daily Mail. “It may be a ploy to add value to a deal, but bringing Max in also makes perfect sense.”

Would Verstappen Ever Leave Red Bull for Aston Martin?

Verstappen is contracted to Red Bull until 2028, earning around £50 million per season. For Aston Martin to lure him away, they would likely need to quadruple his salary to around £200 million per year, along with offering a stake in the team and the opportunity to build a project around him.

Another key factor in Verstappen’s long-term decision will be Red Bull’s 2026 engine partnership with Ford, which could determine the team’s competitiveness under the new regulations.

A Future Move? Never Say Never

While Verstappen remains committed to Red Bull, Aston Martin’s acquisition of Honda as an exclusive power unit provider from 2026 could make them a serious contender. With Newey’s expertise, world-class facilities, and financial backing, Aston Martin could soon resemble the winning formula that made Red Bull dominant from 2021-2024.

Additionally, if Red Bull struggles with new regulations, Verstappen may re-evaluate his options, especially with Mercedes also showing interest in the Dutch star.

For now, Verstappen rejects the rumors, but in the fast-moving world of Formula 1, anything is possible.
