
Salman Ali Agha Named Pakistan’s T20I Captain for New Zealand Series, Shadab Khan as Vice-Captain
Pakistan has appointed Salman Ali Agha as the new T20I captain and Shadab Khan as vice-captain for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, scheduled from March 16-26, 2025. Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan will continue as Pakistan’s ODI captain, with Salman serving as his deputy for the three-match ODI series from March 29 to April 5.

Pakistan’s Long-Term Strategy for T20I Leadership
The decision to appoint Salman and Shadab in leadership roles aligns with Pakistan’s preparations for two major upcoming tournaments:
- ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 (September 2025)
- ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (February/March 2026)
Salman previously led Pakistan to a 2-1 series win against Zimbabwe and will now guide the team through a crucial phase of international T20 cricket.
